• Formulating the Centre's corporate strategy and oversee the implementation of its business plan to ensure that the Centre fulfils its research and training objectives;
• Leading the Centre's inter-disciplinary research program and, direct all facets of research program performance from project planning, operation and quality control through to assisting with the transfer of the Centre's research knowledge to the wider research, government and public communities;
• Developing collaborations with science, tertiary education and industry partners.

• Supporting the Centre Director in building and maintaining a coherent and effective national groundwater research and training centre.
• In addition to this, the Deputy Director has also have specific portfolio responsibilities:
  • Leading the Centre's Surface water - Groundwater Interactions Research Program;
  • Convening the Centre's Industry Liaison and Advisory Committee;
  • Assisting with the development and implementation of the Centre's Partnership Strategy; and
  • Monitoring the performance of the Centre's industry training program with a specific focus on ensuring that the scientific and educational components of these programs is commensurate with users' needs.

• Overseeing the effective operation of the Centre's front office team and ensuring that the Centre's business processes are aligned with Flinders University policies and procedures
• Supporting the efficient and effective operation of key Centre business processes
• Providing discrete project management services to support the centre activities

• Monitoring financial compliance with the ARC agreement, Centre budget and University policies and procedures
• Coordination of collaborator and partner organisations financial reports
• Financial reporting to Centre Management and the Australian Research Council (ARC)
• Financial modelling, research, costing, forecasts, analysis and recommendations
