DRAFT Program 2017 (PDF)

Please note that the field trip has moved to Friday 7th April 2017.

DID YOU KNOW?
Groundwater makes up about 17% of Australia’s accessible water resources, and up to 30% of our water consumption in certain regions. Droughts and climate change place pressure on critical groundwater reserves;  it is therefore important that Australia has a well-informed workforce that is ready to tackle these challenges.

WHY IS THE COURSE IMPORTANT?
The Australian Groundwater School is vital for professionals working with groundwater. Our flagship course, and the premier course of its type in Australasia, the Australian Groundwater School provides participants with a broad but rigorous introduction to groundwater.

Introducing hydrogeology, assessment methods, modelling, managed aquifer recharge, management, governance and more, the course encompasses the fundamentals of groundwater. We have expanded our  School in Adelaide to include a one-day field trip – bringing the course to a full five days of groundwater learning. Delegates have the opportunity to get out of the classroom and put theory into practice, visiting sites such as Kingston Park spring, the Willunga Embayment, and Aldinga Scrub, where geology, groundwater dependence, seawater intrusion and ecohydrology will be discussed. The field trip will include a networking lunch and drinks at a winery at the end of the day.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
The Australian Groundwater School is an intermediate-level course. Scientific, policy and management personnel who want to gain a solid grounding in groundwater should strongly consider attending this course.

WHO IS PRESENTING?
Lectures, demonstrations and tutorials are given by leading groundwater professionals. Our presenters are experienced hydrogeologists and specialists in both public and private practice, from industry, universities and research agencies.
